4/10/2010 · Unless I'm missing something, adjusting the HANDBRAKE cable will not reduce PEDAL travel. As allytech says, try bleeding the system again. I'd recommend the basic two-man method and run plenty of fluid through until you're sure you've got all the air out.... what would cause excessive brake pedal travel on a 1993 ford E350 7.3 diesel. This was happening before and after changing the master cylinder and bleeding the brakes. I had this problem 15 years ago with a 1989 ford bronco 2 and I think it ended up being something simple but dont remember what as the owner took it to a dealer

If it's long pedal (not spongy just long) then it's the piston area. You're pushing a piston in the master cylinder which moves a certain amount of fluid and if you've increased the volume/cross section of pistons at the brake end of the circuit, you'll have to move the master cylinder piston further to compensate.

Hi, Was wondering if someone can assist me with advice as how to reduce the long travel in the brake pedal I have in my SSV. Have 'Harrops' brake upgrade with quality braided lines, correctly bled (pumping does not bring the pedal up), but, the travel is fairly long.
